YANKEE FOUNDER ROBERT ZUCCARO RETURNS AS CLINICIAN
by YUFC posted 09/23/2014

Robert (Bob) Zuccaro, former Yankee United Club President returned to his coaching roots this week serving as a guest clinician for the Yankee United FC Future Stars Camp, which is being held at St. Joesph  High School in Trumbull. Bob's coaching career  on the High School and Premier level span over 35 years. Throughout his tenure,Zuccaro coached Yankee teams which were ranked among the top teams on a Regional and National level for their age group. Bobs true passion for developing players resulted in him creating his own method of training that emphasizes each player in a practice session getting over 2,000 touches on the ball. For the first 3 days of session II camp, the Yankee U12, 13 and 14 girls participated in this highly demanding 2 1/2 hour  "competitive caldron" training environment. After the session Zuccaro praised the girls stating that "In all my years of  training players this group of girls has the highest level of skill that I have seen. If they continue to work at it they will become the best players in the state"

Coach Zuccaro will be returning periodically in the Fall to facilitate team training sessions for the Yankee girls and their coaches.

U12 8v8 Premiership Division Champions
FC STARS CUP 2014 - CHAMPIONS

Congratulations to the Yankee United F.C. Reign NPL-02 Blue Team on winning the FC Stars Cup GU12 8v8 Premiership Division this past weekend in Taunton, Massachusetts. The Stars Cup is rated as a Premier Elite Tournament by GotSoccer and is ranked as the top girls tournament in the country and the top overall tournament in Massachusetts. Facing tough competition from other top teams in Region I the Yankee Reign went 4-0-0 scoring 14 goals while only conceding 6.
In the group stage the Reign defeated Manhattan SC Power NPL 3-2 (ranked #2 NYE), STA Morris United NPL-02 4-1 and in the final group match defeating NJ Crush FC Flames NPL 3-1.
On the opposite side of the Premiership Bracket, Rage FC Premier Renegades (NJ) (Ranked #1 in the Nation) disposed of NEFC NPL (MA) 2-0, Alleycats Elite (NYE) 4-0 and NYSC (NYE) 3-0 without conceding a single goal and solidified their place in the Championship game vs the YUFC Reign.
The YUFC Reign dominated Rage FC in the Championship Match with goals by Tony D. (2) & Ella F. (1). The Reign found themselves leading 3-1 until Rage FC found the back of the net with 2 minutes remaining in regulation to make the final few minutes very intense. The YUFC Reign defense stayed strong and held off the Rage FC attack to capture the 2014 Stars Cup Championship in a 3-2 victory. YUFC President Wayne Mones could not be any prouder of this young and very talented team at Yankee. "For our girls to win such a prestigious and highly competitive tournament at such a young age is tremendous and I want to congratulate Coach Rainho and the Reign on their achievement."

New NPL League: New England Premier League
by YUFC posted 06/06/2014

CHARLESTON, S.C. (May 12, 2014) – The New England Premier League, part of US Club Soccer’s National Premier Leagues platform, is welcoming a girls division into its competitive landscape beginning with the Fall 2014 season. The girls division will be comprised of seven clubs from Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island:

Aztec Soccer (MA) Oakwood SC (CT)
Bayside FC Bolts (RI) Seacoast United (NH)
Global Premier Soccer (MA) Yankee United F.C. (CT)
New England Futbol Club (MA)

The additions provide geographically friendly schedules for the U-13 through U-18 age divisions with teams playing each other home and away. At the conclusion of the inaugural season, the team with the best record in each respective age group advances to the 2015 NPL Finals.

The NPL Finals is the targeted destination for all NPL teams throughout the year-long, league-based competition each season, featuring the champions of each NPL across the country in the U-13 through U-18 boys and girls age groups.

In addition to competing against conference foes, New England Premier League girls teams will face fellow NPL member New York Club Soccer League opponents in league-crossover games.

"The New York Club Soccer League is a proud supporter of the New England Premier League,” Gary Grossman, NYCSL President, said. “We look forward to our meaningful, inter-divisional NPL play. We are grateful for the opportunity to assist the growth of the NPL in the northeast.”

“We are excited about the addition of the girls division in the New England Premier League,” Chris Hamblin, NEFC Girls Director of Coaching, said. “The league provides a competitive and localized schedule, while allowing the New England clubs the opportunity to play against neighboring NPL clubs in New York in a crossover cup competition.”

“The New England Premier League will provide a club-based solution by creating meaningful competition on a one-game-per-week basis,” Rick Derella, Oakwood SC Director of Coaching, said. “The league will benefit its like-minded members by offering a high level of play and using best practice standards to the fullest.”
