YANKEE UNITED F.C. - COLLEGE PREPARATION PROGRAM

YUFC offers its players rigorous college counseling at no additional cost in assisting their players and parents with the college process based on the players academic interest, location, size of school, GPA, Class Rank, SAT scores and of course their soccer ability and commitment level. Our program is designed to provide our players with a tool to help them with college admissions, college scholarships, and great educational and athletic opportunities.Within our exceptional staff are experienced former college players and coaches (many with 15 to 30 years of experience), as well as high school guidance counselors.

Our on-staff guidance counselors are available to meet individually with a family to walk them through what can sometimes be a stressful experience. Once the identification of appropriate college choices is developed, members of the Yankee Coaching Staff are able to pick up the phone to directly advocate for the Yankee Player based on their own personal reputation and decades of Yankee United F.C. players placed into these same programs and who have excelled and earned recognition at a broad array of colleges and universities.

About the YUFC College Preparation Program

Yankee United F.C. is proud to provide a number of programs outside the normal realm of training, competition, and soccer related activities.  One of those programs is the College Preparation Program.  This program is by run by Wayne Mones & Jack Nogueira  and is provided to our girls teams U15 to U18.

This winter YUFC will host a college recruitment & educational seminar for all college-bound athletes & parents. Yankee alumni, as well as,  professional and current college athletes will address our players on the college process from an academic and athletic standpoint.

The YUFC College Preparation Program will help our players navigate through the college process in the following ways:

Freshmen: introduce student athletes to the college recruiting process, set realistic expectations for student-athletes, provide a checklist for families in order for them to prepare themselves for the process.

Sophomores: student-athletes and their families will receive all freshman services as well as information regarding how to effectively select a college, how to communicate with coaches through letter writing, and how to tactically embark on the recruiting process.

Juniors: student-athletes and their families will receive all pertinent freshman and sophomore information as well as information on how to communicate with colleges and coaches, SAT prep course, how to get and stay organized, how to find and qualify for academic and athletic scholarships and how to register for the clearinghouse and take their first SAT/ACT.

Seniors: student-athletes and their families will learn how to select and prepare for college visits, stay in communication with schools, complete the college selection process and participate in discussions that will prepare them for the demands of their first year of college (i.e. time management, quality study habits for college student-athletes, etc…).

For all ages, emphasis is placed throughout the program on real-life lessons that will help our players far beyond their time with Yankee and far beyond the field. This invaluable program is provided free-of-charge to all U15 through U18 Yankee United FC members. Specific topics and schedule will be released in the fall and the program will begin in November.
