1st ANNUAL NEW ENGLAND SUPER CAMP COMES OFF AS ADVERTISED!
Yankee United and the South Coast Scorpions teamed up for a very unique event; a preseason camp that was team specific and involving more than just one club! The week came off as a huge success in every aspect with 136 kids in attendance from 4 states, the camp couldnt have come off any better!
Guest coach and international soccer star, Joy Fawcett was able to shareher thoughts and views on playing the game, nutrition and even took the time to sign a few autographs throughout the week. The girls from both clubs were able to ask her questions about life as a professional athlete as well as show off their skills to someone who has played at the highest levels the game has to offer! With ice cream socials, talent shows (which U12 Comet, Emily Matis won with her gymnastics/dance routine) and loads of laughs all week long, the girls will all take something away from this camp as a very positive experience.
All week, the Scorpions and Yankee United camps were not only training and playing at the highest possible levels throughout the day, but during the evening, local premier level teams were brought in to compete against the camp teams. The U12 Comets finished with a 2-0-2 record but playing very well in their first ever 11 v 11 formatted games. Their results were as follows:
Monday, vs. Inter Bandits U12: 0-0 (t)
Tuesday, vs.
South Coast U12: 1-1 (t)
Wednesday, vs. NE Eagles U12: 1-0 (w)
Thursday, vs. South Coast U12: 2-1 (w)
The U14 team was a mixture of Comets, Stars, U13 Blaze and Monroe players. They enjoyed a competitive week, having to come together to play against top competition without a goalkeeper! The girls had a great time, laughing and learning as the week went on. A few rousing games of dizzy penalty kicks friday morning left
smiles
on the faces of the girls as they left to go home! Their results
for the week were as follows:
Monday, vs. Nova U14: 4-2 (w)
Tuesday, vs. South Coast U14: 5-0 (l)
Wednesday, vs. South Coast U14B: 3-2 (l)
Thursday, vs. South Coast U14/15 mix:
3-1 (w)
Again, what a week! We would like to thank all of those who came
out for the 1st Annual NESC, and a special thanks to Joy Fawcett
for taking the time to fly out from California for this camp! We are already preparing for next year's camp and look forward to making
it even better!
