The Yankee United Football Club
fields teams in all age groups ranging from 12 to 19 that compete at the
highest level in Connecticut and in the United States. Yankee
United teams have won 32 State Championships in Connecticut, three Region
I Championships, and one National Championship, more than any other club.
Yankee United Football Club Yankee United was formed in 1992 to promote the highest level of competitive soccer in the state for aspiring young female soccer players. Yankee United teams have produced 11 All-Americans, 33 All New England players, and 155 players who have earned All State honors. Typically, 30-40 of our players each year make the Olympic Development Program which brings together the top players in the state and serves as the initial step on the ladder to the U.S. Womens National Team. Yankee United has the advantage of training outdoors at the multi-field complex at Yale University and the artificial surface at Southern Connecticut State University which allows our teams to get an early start in the spring season. Rudy Meredith, womens soccer coach at Yale University, is our Director of Coaches; Jim OBrien, womens coach at Southern Connecticut State University, is Director of Keeper Coaches. Yankee United players benefit from our program in many ways. The coaching staff draws from colleges, high schools, and the Olympic Development Program to provide the best soccer instruction and experience. Yankee regularly sends players to the most competitive colleges and into Division 1 programs which afford athletic scholarships. Yankee soccer is the stepping stone to these academic opportunities.
